Misunderstood !

One day I got a phone call from a friend. Her husband and the guys were at a construction site. They had a friend. A hawk they though. It was hurt. They were feeding it. Could I go and check it out. Well I never say no. But when I got there this bird had been cared for to well. Getting pcs of bbq'd stake etc at lunch time. No wonder it didn't want to leave. Truth was it was a fledgling red tail hawk. And its parents were more than likely not to far away . But this group of men thought it was a bird who was hurt and needed help. Well it was a baby. A very healthy baby. We chatted and I explained how they could tell and that it needed to be left alone and not fed. It would find its parents or vica versa. But for a while after its big lunch it found a puddle to play in. A string to pull on and a tree to land in. It didn't fly the greatest yet but it sure knew were it could get good eats. So I stayed and watched it for a while and made sure it could fly. It could. Then it left and found its parents. So the guys learned what a little red tailed hawk looked and acted like and that they shouldn't feed it. And the parents were not far away. A great experience that hurt no one.
