Dangers of fishing line

Fishing line does not ever break down, usually has lead sinkers attached and even lures and hooks. All deadly to our wildlife of all shapes n sizes.

A shoreline clean up prompted by a loon all tangled in fishing line, ( another posting in here ) were huge amounts of left behind fishing line was found and confiscated.
A grackle fledgling caught in the reeds along a dyke at Tiny Marsh was found only because I myself got caught up in this line left behind and draped all over the dyke. Blending in very well to its surroundings. I almost went down. But on that note if I had not have gotten caught up. This little life would have been lost.

Tightly wrapped around and around this little leg cutting off circulation. Needed a needle to get it off. A nearby farmer luckily didn't mind helping the little guy out.
Gentile hands work tediously to get the leg clear of fishing line. While I fed it droplets of water from my bottle. It was a very hot day and lord knows how long it had been trapped.
Kate helping me out when we finally were able to get the bird out of the reeds. Look at all that fishing line. Insane.

You can see the fishing line wrapped around this loons neck. We tried to get him but he could still dive and did not stay around. I know not what ever happened to this bird.So sad.

Line around gooses leg from another posting.
A container we saw in a Toronto area that seemed to have discarded line it. Everyone should have these. A simple solution. We put a couple up at Tiny Marsh and when we checked them a month later we found discarded fishing line inside. They were using them. Color us happy!!!
More fishing line caught in a tree branch along a river bank.

Same riverbank . A beautiful innocent screech owl hangs dead from being caught in fishing line during nesting season.
Same area more line. This is a salmon area and trout. Apparently these fishermen are not to smart.
And yet we find more, same area.

The little grackle from above after we finally got him untangled after getting me untangled.

Doing a lead free exchange along Barrie waterfront. Fishermen were more than willing to get rid of their lead and try the alternative.
                                                         Nothing deserves THIS!!
